Pool perimeter fibre optics

Perimeter pool lighting

Lighting a swimming pool during the night or twilight creates for a magical shimmer which makes the most of the water feature. LightEFX fibre optics can be used to create an enticing atmosphere at the poolside, installed easily lighting the entire perimeter of the pool, whether your pool is round, rectangular or a kidney-shaped. This means that the light distribution from the side of the pool is even, making a much more professional look. In addition to the attractive shimmering appearance created, the pool's edge becomes detailed in the dark, making the pool easier to spot and consequently safer.

How Do They Work?

A fibre cable emanating light from its side is installed along the perimeter of the pool. The side emitting fibre cable is resistant to chlorine and salt water, so degeneration issues are overcome ensuring a long and low maintenance operation life. The fibre optics are installed on a clear track and held securely under the pool's coping or in a separate channel by the pool's wall. An illuminator is then used as a light source, ensuring a high light intensity and great performance with only fibre optics going anywhere near the water.

Visual Effects

Pool-based fibre optic applications can offer differing effects, depending on what is wanted. They are ideal for generating a soft and uniform lighting effect that works its way around the pool. The amount of light that is visible can be altered by how low in the water the fibre optics are installed. Closer to the surface means that more shimmer is likely as the water ripples. Lower down, and the more uniform the appearance will be. Between six and nine inches under the surface is popular, but there is no reason to stick to this rule. Remember that perimeter pool lighting can be combined with other fibre optic systems to make a highly individual look. For example, end-emitting fibre optic cables can also be used to create a sparkling effect.
